just wanna to ask if i can have 2 wireless router?
okay i got a wireless cable Modem router. i think that my wireless modem got stuff up and it can only connect with Lan by can't connect wth WLAN. so i was wonder that if i could get a wireless router to slove this problem?
Also another question i want to ask, can i have 2 wireless router and it will still work? i would be very greatful if anyone can help me. THX ![]() :

I don't think you can hook up 2 routers to the same source. However I believe you can attach 2 wireless access points to one source.

If you want to connect a router to the modem/router, the modem/router needs to be converted to a modem that passes the real IP address through - with DSL modems this is called the "bridge" mode. Otherwise, you are going to have 2 levels of NAT (network address translation) which is problematic. Otherwise, you need to turn off the wireless section of the modem/router and connect a wireless access point to it, not a router.

so will this work, i will disable the wireless in my wireless modem and then get a new wireless router???

so you are saying that i need to convert the wireless modem to a modem that passes the real IP address through and how can i do all those????
Also 1 question what is a bridge mode???? |

and also what dio you mean by connecting a "wireless access point to it, not a router" isn't a wireless access point a router?

that mean i need to go to my isp and buy it off them, by the way how do u convert a wireless modem to that passes the real IP address through - with DSL modems this is called the "bridge" mode??

If you bought the modem from your ISP, ask them how to do it, if it's even possible.

no i didn't buy my wireless modem it came with the optus $99 fusion plan so yea.

Check with your ISP - it may be under warranty. It may be a simple exchange.

i ask my teacher in my school, his the head network manger. he told me that if i disable my wirelesss in the netgear i can get another wireless router and there won't be a problem because the DHCP is different.
so does any1 here agree with my teacher???? |

The DHCP may be different but you will still be doing NAT twice, which is not a good idea.

so the best solution is that i get a wireless access point and disable my wireless in my netgear.

okay i found a wireless access point but i dunno if this is it so the wireless access point is a "Netgear WPN802 Rangemax Wireless Access Point, MIMO Technology"
so should this work???? |
