Using My laptop to get internet access on my desktop?

I have a laptop that recieves a perfectly fine wireless signal in my bedroom, but the wireless adapter in my desktop does not receive a good enough signal.

I want to connect my desktop computer to my laptop computer so that my desktop has internet access.

My laptop is running vista 64, and my Desktop has Windows 7 64 RC

On my Laptop i have bridged my wireless connection and the LAN connection to my desktop, but the desktop still ends up trying to connect to an "unidentified network" and is unsuccessful.

What do i need to do to get this to work..???
I know people use their laptops to get xbox live working, so im assuming i can use my laptop to get my desktop an internet connection?

Thanks for any help =]

Does your router also have a wired connection that can go to the desktop?

Well.. it does. But the router is all the way down my hallway in another room. About one hundred feet.

The wireless receiver in my laptop gets a 100% signal, but the cheap linksys wireless adapter in my desktop gets no signal.

Thats the reason i was trying to use my laptop as a connection

What type of adapter are you using, USB or a pci card? If you are using USB, replace it with one of these cards.

If that doesn't improve the signal strength then get two of these,

Attach one to your router and the other to your card. I have a solid 5 bar signal with a similar setup. I'm two floors up from my router just to prove my point.
