Taking the plunge

Ok wife got new laptop for Mother's Day has vista home premium on it. I managed to connect to the wireless router On her previous laptop i tried to set up a network with Network Magic not real happy with that software. (eg I can't get any network printers to work) Anyway should I try to set up the network on her vista machine? The other two computers in this network are xp pro and xp. I would like to install office 07 on the new laptop and be able to run it from the other two machines. Also be able to print on her Laser printer from the other two machines. Is this possible? Any suggestions appreciated. I am sure I am going to have more questions and links to articles to read will be read. Thanks in advance.

Running Office over the network is not possible, it has to be installed locally. Printing should work fine. There is no need for Network Magic, there are tutorials all over the Net for setting up home networks. The only note I can make is when you try to set up a mixed XP/Vista network, it's a LOT easier if ALL machines use the same login - username and password.
