Hooking up a wireless laptop
Hi All
Having trouble getting a laptop hooked up to a wireless router for an internet connection. I did have it hooked up alright before, but reformatted and now can’t seem to get it going again. The router is a Linksys, WRT54GL. The laptop is running Windows XP Pro, SP3. Like I mentioned all was good before I reformatted and reinstalled xp, so I don’t think the trouble is in the router, and it is hooked to my desktop and I can get on the internet fine there. I ran the wireless network setup wizard. Then go to my network places, an all is blank there. Go to view network connections and there are two there, Incoming Connections (no clients connected), And Local Area Connection (Network cable unplugged Realteck RTL8139 Family), I understand that, that is my wired connection, so should say Unplugged. Not sure what to do next, any ideas are much appreciated. |

After the format - did you install the chipset/video/wireless adaptor etc drivers?

![]() Wife bought the computer second hand and received no disks with it, no operating system, no drivers, etc. I thought maybe windows would look after all that, guess I was wrong. How do I find out just what drivers I need? |

Go to the manufacturers website, and get the drivers from them.
