Hey I'm trying out windows 7 on my old Dell Dimension 5100 and need a compatible wireless card that doesn't cost that much. Thanks.

Hello,
These are known to work with windows 7 1. For an inexpensive Wireless Card Encore Electronics 802.11G Wireless PCMCIA Adapter (54 Mbps) http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/de...s%20Networking ENCORE ENLWI-N IEEE 802.11b/g http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833180052 For an expensive one : Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g CardBus Wireless LAN Client Adapter (FCC configuration) NOT evaluated by me yet You may also try to update the drivers, here is a good link that may help http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s=2093&lang=en |

Have you tried installing drivers for the card, I would try the Vista version, in either 32 bit, or 64 bit. Depending on which version of Win7 you are using. Also make sure your Wi-Fi is enabled, any drivers I needed for my HP laptop I used the Vista 64 bit versions.

I'm partial to the linksys brand,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...10139&name=PCI The Speedboost will only work if you have a Speedboost router, but any of the linked cards will work. |
