I would check for firmware updates, Is there anyway to get closer to the router to see if your connection improves.

signal strength is excellent. i cant even stay online long enough to download the firmware update. any file transfer kills it.
EDIT: managed to upgrade firmware. i'll let you know how stable it is. EDIT II: i managed not to crash loading a couple you tube videos, HQ still takes longer than normal, however. Last edited by scuderia; 05-21-2009 at 07:09 AM. |

If you do heavy uploading and downloading, you should be using a wired connection.
By the way, you should NEVER update firmware over a wireless connection. |

I don't do heavy up/downloading. The most is watching videos on YouTube and such.
And yeah.. I figured, but it worked out ok. I won't be doing it again, though. |

this is getting ridiculous. the internet connection on this computer is lethargic and drops constantly. i go to the computer in the next room over (which has a whole host of problems of its own) and the wireless is pristine. what gives?

What type of adapter is on the "pristine connection", reason I ask is my in laws use a WUSB54G and it is very inconsistent at trying to maintain a decent connection, and theirs is 20 feet from the router. You might want to swap out the WUSB54G for a PCI wireless card, if your computer is a desktop.

I have NEVER had good luck with USB adapters. The WRT54G2 is also not a very good router.
