Remote Desktop Not Working
hi there. I am trying out this remote desktop thing but it doesnt seem to work. when i put in the computer name that is on the network it says that the computer might be too busy to accept connections. why is this happening. I have remote desktop enabled, windows firewall is off. i am using xp on one computer and vista on another computer but they are in the same workgroup.
by the way my computers doesnt have different users so there is no username and password? could this be the reason why? I am also running XP home editon Last edited by slingingshot15; 05-23-2009 at 09:45 PM. |

Remote desktop requires username and password.
Which EXACT version of XP and EXACT version of Vista are you using, and which one is the host? |

XP home does not have a remote desktop server, so it cannot be the host. You can connect TO other computers FROM an XP home computer, but you cannot connect to it since it doesn't have a remote desktop server.

If you want to use a remote desktop on a XP Home computer, you will need a 3rd party application such as "VNC".
