Internet access to console 2 floors up advice needed.

Hello.

Ok I have my entire pc setup and router down in the family room on bottom floor of the condo but In my room at the top is where I have my ps3 which I want to get a wifi signal to. I started to buy a wireless router but Im not sure if the signal strength would be strong to be worth it for online gaming without it being really slow or laggy.

In a straight line across space Id guess its really no more than 35feet away, but it has to cross atleast 3 walls in that line to reach since we have downstairs, main floor and upstairs.

I had considered running a network cable through the duct work but opted out of it since the vent coming out in the room upstairs is at other end of the room and didnt really want to run it through the middle of the room.

Really bad drawing included but well, I suck at making that stuff but its a rough idea.

A CAT 5 cable is the *best* way to do it, but if your router has wireless, try using wireless. My nephew runs his PS3 wireless over a longer distance than that through more walls.

They are using a Linksys WRT110, but I don't like it. I recommend a Linksys WRT54GL. Your router isn't wireless?

I have no idea what he does or how it's working, but I haven't heard any complaints.

No its not wireless, I never had a need for one and in general prefer hardware setups since I dont have a laptop and both my pcs are at the same desk right by where the modem is.

If you are happy with your router, you could try a simple wireless access point. These work well:
