Thank you for reading my inquiry. Basically, I cannot access www.takefiveaday.com, a blog about collecting Disney Pixar Cars., y'now from the movie with Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen. I used to be able to access the site at any given time day or night. But not anymore. Background: Now recently that site had to upgrade to another web host. For a few days, there was fluctuation of service but it seemed to be sorting itself out. until monday when i could not see the site anymore at my office or my home computer. I have called Comcast, my isp, and Microsoft. I have spent hours on the phone tryiing to solve this puzzle. Neither has solved it; they both seem to be pointing the finger at each other. Right now, when I try to access that site through IE8 it comes back with message that the webpage could not be displayed. It offers to diagnose problem, on that page. It suggests to reset the Local Area Connection; nothing works when that button is pressed. I downloaded 2 new browsers. On firefox, there is a Network timeout. ON Google chrome, it reads Oops! This link appears to be broken. It offers cached version but that never appears. So far, I have deleted all temp files and cookies; I have flushed the DNS; I have pinged the site and or their ip address and it times out with 4 failures. I removed my security center to no avail. I reset my modem. i have no router. Now, I also lost access to the site at my day job computer that I use the most. But on another computer in the office, I can see the site. Everyone in the world for the most part can view this G rated site. Does anyone have any suggestions why I cannot communicate with this single webpage? Thank you in advance for your participation. |

I didn't have any problem viewing the site. Have you contacted the webmaster (metroxing(at)gmail.com) to see if your IP address is blocked for some reason?
A shot in the dark, but maybe the new web hosts have blocked a range of IP addresses for spamming and your IP address unfortunately falls within that range.

Occassionally this has happened to me with a game World of Warcraft as well as their website worldofwarcraft.com.
I don't know of another term to use, but in IRC it's called a netsplit and I imagine that it could be something similar to a netsplit. Instead of a node in an IRC network it's a DNS server that you're accessing that is not updating the information properly. DNS servers sometimes query other DNS servers for information and update. Sometimes they fail in that process for a number of reasons. If possible try to access the website by ip. 67.220.197.139 This is the IP it is listed under. Unfortunately it looks like it's a shared IP. Meaning multiple sites are sharing the same IP and the Domain Name is what determines what site you get forwarded to. If you can access that IP though it is most likely a DNS update problem. Unfortunately it could be a DNS server outside your ISP Anyway. I will poke around some more because there has to be a direct IP link to that page. Maybe tell the webhost when you send him an E-mail that you're have DNS issues and would like a hard link of the website from the IP address. Should be something like 67.220.197.139/acct1/index.html |
