Netgear LAN network

I am setting up a home LAN and ran into a problem, I have a Netgear FA310TX card and a netgear hub, running windows 2000. Ping come back negative. I try to install networking protocals and cannot find the drivers, I believe I have the drivers for the card to work, and it shows up as having send packets. It, and I, cannot find the Protocal .inf files when I try to install tcp/ip or anything else. It doesn't recognize the disk that came with my network card it doesn't find them in Windows. It just sais the location listed contains no information about my drivers. The Netgear website states that Windows 2000 contains the drivers for this model, and Windows 2000 lists it as basic compatability.
Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
Thank You and Have a Happy Turkey (or Tofu substitute if you prefer) Day

Hi,

Have you tried the latest driver for your FA310TX card? I took a look at the netgear site and searched for "FA310" under customer service/downloads, and it came up with a couple driver files. www.netgear.com Hope this helps.

If you are sure it's a 310 then I would think the card is defective, Win2K would automatically find a 310 and install drivers for it.

Your issues are with windows 2000, not neccessarily your card.

Is this a new install of win2k?
You may want to reload windows, and once you are back to win2k, install the driver update via device manager.
The netgear cards are good, as good as I need for the money. I have only had one go bad in 5 years. It was replaced quickly.

Before you go and reinstall Win2k, try uninstalling your networking protocol, and then reinstall it. LEft click on "My Network Places", local network, and then go to properties. There you should find your TCP/IP settings, and most likely the settings for your netgear NIC. All the necessary file you say you are looking for will be installed on your system when you install your network protocol.

outside chance, you might want to make sure the NICs are not in the first (highest) pci slot in your machine. I've seen problems with this in multiple OSes and multiple boards
