Can someone help identify a router problem?
Hi,
here is the issue. There is the modem in one room, the modem is connected to a linksys router that works well. The router's signal is too weak to go to another room though. So what I've been doing for a while is throw one cable to that room. in the room I attach an older wireless router to it. The 2nd router is needed to connect the xbox360, ps3, and for use with iphone/ipad. The problem is that the connection to the second router drops very frequently. So can someone suggest how to change or setup the settings so this doesn't happen? The router in 2nd room is not obstructed or anything like that. The signal is strong when it works. ressetting the router didn't help. The router is not used for torrents either it couldnt cause crashing in signal I did go to router configuration utility, but unfortunately I do not have required knowledge besides the most obvious settings.

The second router needs to be reconfigured as a switch/access point with no routing functions.
Set its internal IP address to 192.168.1.254, turn off its internal DHCP server, and connect the cable coming from the main router to one of the LAN ports, not the WAN/Internet port. |
