wireless ap recommendation

I need to setup about 40 workstations, and they are in the middle of a big room with no data ports close. Is there a good reliable wireless AP I can purcahse to give internet access to 40 workstations? Would it be better to buy 2 mid range AP's or one high end AP?
These workstations will be accessing the internet all at the same time.
I have a DHCP server setup, but I can set these workstations to use a static IP address if needed. I just dont want them to be dropping connection.
Recommendations would be great!

I'd buy a Linksys WRT54GL router and load DD-WRT firmware on it - and configure it to be an access point. For 50 bucks this is worth a try before buying a commercial AP.

I just setup three wireless networks, each with about 8 workstations. The internet access is a site provided unsecure wireless connection. My networks have to be secure. All of the computers are running XP Pro. I use one computer to connect to the site router wirelessly, and a cable connected to a WRT54GL via a lan port. I use Internet Connection Sharing on the first computer. The other computers connect to the WRT54GL wirelessly. DHCP is disabled in the WRT54GL. If anyone has a similar requirement be sure and use a router with a gateway outside of the ICS DHCP range of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254. The WRT54GL for examle has a gateway of 192.168.1.1 which works fine. I tried a D-Link at first, and I got IP conflicts because the gateway for that router is the same as XP's 192.168.0.1. And for some reason I have not figured out yet it would not let me change it to an IP outside the XP ICS range. With 40 computers all wanting internet access at the same time, you could run into bandwidth problems with a setup like mine.
