Uninstalling Best Buy Connect Spam - Help needed please?
I am setting up my son's new notebook so I can wrap it and put it under the tree tonight and am in the process of removing the bloatware and unneeded extras which Lenovo and Best Buy put on the notebook.
This notebook comes with WiMax and although I do not currently intend on using or subscribing to any WiMax services, I do not want to uninstall the notebooks capability but DO want to uninstall the Best Buy Connect software and links to the service so my son doesn't accidentally connect and cost us money. If I use the uninstall on Win7, will it uninstall just the Wimax "Best Buy" connection or will it entirely disable and uninstall the notebooks WiMax capability? When I do an uninstall, I get a box asking me: Quote:
I am a WiMax newbie and have absolutely no experience with it nor with notebooks which have it. Thanks for your help! |

There is a lot more than that to uninstall. You can ditch it. Do yourself and him a favor, make recovery discs. Last edited by jdeb; 12-24-2011 at 10:00 AM. |

Downloaded from your link and when I opened the downloaded file, AVG identifed it as a threat and moved it to the vault. What's up?

Make your recovery disk, run Decrapifier and then allow AVG to isolate it and nuke it if Decrapifier has not already gotten rid of it.
It seems unethical that Best Buy resorts to this kind of intrusive marketing.

Huh? Not on my end. Did that thing come with AVG pre-installed? That is the first thing I would get rid of. Best Buy is not a friendly to laptop's. Decrapify it and then install Microsoft security essentials. Best Buy does not want you to decrapify it. There is not a problem with that link by the way, it is Best Buy's way of scarring you into using their spyware.
Anyway, Here is the direct link and it will warn you probably as well. Download | The PC Decrapifier Last edited by jdeb; 12-24-2011 at 10:49 AM. |
