NAP issues with Xbox Live

Hi all!
I just switched to centurylink for my ISP, and they sent me a PK5000 to use as a modem/wireless g router. The thing is, I recently purchased a Netgear n600 WNDR3400 duel band, wireless N router. So I decided to just disable the wireless on the PK5000 and use the Netgear N600 to manage my network. The problem is, when I test my connection on my Xbox, it tells me that the NAP settings are set to Stric, and I need to log into my router and turn on UPnP. When I log into my routers settings, both UPnP and Nat are enabled.

Using this current setup, it appears that the thing that is affected the most is streaming Netflix. It won't let me stream HD through the Netgear router, but when I turn that one off and enable the PK5000 to broadcast, I can stream in HD just fine.

Is there any benefit to using the Netgear dual band router? I have my Xbox connected to the 5 GHz link, and my computer, IPAD, and two smartphones connected to the 2.4 GHz link.

Thanks for any help in advance!

You mean NAT, not NAP.

Connecting 2 routers together like that makes for dual NAT, which is the source of your problem.

If you want to use the wireless section in the Netgear, it has to be converted and reconfigured to be an access point/switch only.

Log into the Netgear, and change its internal IP address to one in the same subnet as the main router, but outside its DHCP scope. Then turn its internal DHCP server off. Connect a cable from the main router to it using one of the LAN ports, *NOT* the Internet/WAN port.

Is there any benefit to me running wireless off of the Netgear? Is the 5GHz link worth this trouble, or should I just use the PK5000 for my wireless?

Try the PK5000 and see if it works well enough for you. The Netgear does offer "N" speeds and the dual band.
