Babylon, did I get it out?

While setting up programs in the new build (bottom of my sig,) I suddenly popped up with a new search engine, Babylon. Have no clue how it came and got in there but the minute I noticed very early on, I ran Malwarebytes quick scan which found one problem. I then ran the complete scan and found two more items, which I also eliminated. I then ran MSE scan which found nothing. I cleaned the machine with CCleaner and it appeared to be OK for about 4 days.
Today out of the blue it popped up again as the default search engine in Chrome, which is my default. I again ran full scans with both programs but found nothing. After searching here I downloaded Windows Defender Offline, followed those instructions, and it too said I was clean. Upon booting up again and loading Chrome, up comes that darned thing again. This in spite of Google being the default search engine. Another scan and nothing.

I finally just uninstalled Chrome, ran CCleaner again, then I reinstalled Chrome. If this doesn't do it, what do I do next? Did I get it? Frustrating!

If you re installed the web browser it should be gone. All though you didn't have to re installed just simply go to your browser settings and change your home URL and also look at the plugin and disabled babylon as a search engine it has to be deleted manually.

Thanks. Actually I had disabled Babylon initially, there were no plugins and the only thing I didn't do was to delete the URL. I even looked at the registry and though I'm inexperienced at that, I didn't find any keys that remotely looked like they belonged to Babylon, or baby, etc., which is why I uninstalled and reinstalled. I was hoping I had not overlooked anything therefore the reason for my post.`I couldn't understand why none of the scans picked up anything which made be believe I overlooked something.

Thanks. I think those instructions, while pointing to the same end result, are for an earlier release of Chrome. The "Settings" are now right in the first drop down menu. In any case I'm now certain with the reinstall that I'm rid of it, at least for a while.

When it happened to me the second time I think I went to that settings page and I didn't locate Babylon in there and nothing came up in the scans but I suppose in my frustration I may have overlooked something.

Any, there's joy in River City!
