Considering new router, advice sought

Im in the market for a new router, as I have some N capable devices now and would like to take advantage of their speed boost for local file transfers and the like. My current router is a WRT54GL running Tomato, which has served me well the last 6 or 7 years, The new router must be dual band, and work with open source firmware, budget is $100 or less, but I will stretch it a bit if its worth it.

I am afraid I dont know much about routers and have never used open source firmaware...

My last router was a Netgear 2500 something and it was okay. I had a friend give me a great deal on a

D-Link DGL-4500 and its dual band and its really nice... now issues with it and its pretty powerful

I'd start with seeing what routers are fully supported by tomato, and out of those, see which ones support Wireless-N.

As much as I like Tomato, it wouldnt bother me to run another open source firmware. Be it Tomato, DD-WRT, OpenWRT, or HyperWRT...they all do what I need in the end.

Linksys E2500, E3200, or the original E4200.
