runing 2 virus app's
I know your not supposed to run more then one virus program.
I was just reading about the 10th malware scare... and i was reading about the "Microsoft Security Essentials". Can you run that with another app like AVG? If you disable AVG? Thanks |

I was also just reading about these other programs from MS.
Microsoft Malware Protection Center and Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center Most is pretty understandable, but any thoughts would be nice. thanks |

I have run two anti-malware applicatains simultaneously and have had no conflicts, even though everyone says not to. What I do now is run MSE in the background and occasionally run a deep scan with Malwarebytes. AVG is bloatware and a resource hog now.

You can run as many as you want as long as they do not need to uninstall the other to run. Yes you can disable one to run either.
The answer to why not run more than one at a time is simple. They will likely fight each other and get into a scanning loop that will slow your system. |

thanks for the help.
Yes AVG has gotten bad, any other suggestions? I was thinking about running: Windows Defender; Windows Defender Offline; Microsoft Security Essentials; Microsoft Safety Scanner; Windows Defender; or some combo of the above. Any help is appreciated thanks again |

If you are connected to a router, you don't need that 3rd party firewall, the Windows 7 firewall is more than adequate.
You should only have one memory-resident antivirus running. All I use here is MSE and the free version of Malwarebytes - which I use to do manual scans. MSE replaces Windows Defender and is more full-featured. Windows Defender Offline is used to manually scan and clean a system that has malware that won't delete using conventional methods within Windows. It runs from boot media. |

thnks
Thank you.
I don't think I ever had a lot of faith in MS protection, like their firewall. I already use Malwarebytes, so I will look into the MS security closer. There is a nice way to evaluate what to use at the bottom of this page: Guidance and advice; Guidance and advice - Learn more about malware - Microsoft Malware Protection Center thanks again |
