False Virus Alert

While browsing one of the many forums I belong to. I get this message from MS essentials, that there are a couple of Trojans and hack tool on my pc, and needs to scan to clean it up.. I found it kind of odd and after two attempts made the message go away.. Then went right to MSE on the desktop did a full scan, and it found like I thought nothing..

I'd run Malewarebytes to be on the safe side.

MSE never pops anything up as a warning. Whenever you run across that, don't touch a thing, do a hard shutdown or you will infect your PC. It sounds as if you were surfing the web and came across drive by malware. Make sure you are keeping Windows, Flash, and Java updated. Download and burn the Windows Defender Offline cd and start it up and run a full scan. Or like EzyStvy said, run Malwarebytes but I would run it in safe mode.

The only time I have ever seen MSE pop up with an advisory (warning), was to let you know it was cleaning something up.

Where exactly on your screen did you see this message?
