Internet Speeds and Such..

As of now our Internet ( 1.20 - 1.50 Download and .40 - .60 Upload MBPS ) is only capable of streaming Netflix at bad quality, without anything it can load up a 480p video of 5 minutes, in..idk 5 - 10 minutes, HD Youtube isn't questionable, too slow..

We are on a 2-Year Contract with At&t, should we call and request higher speeds, cuz this is ridiculous for $60-$80 internet service ( ALONE ).

Plan to switch to Verizon services once contract(s) are up..

What I get with Netflix running, and this Forum haha.

Also FiOS is available in my area ( Must've came when Verizon brought 4G here, ATT still doesn't have 3G here, let alone 2G is bad here )

That's way too much money for those speeds, that's for sure.

My family has an At&t U-verse plan, and it works great.

I would call ATT and nicely ask them if you can get out from their plan or ask them if they can speed up your data.

What minimum speed do they promise you with your plan? I agree that the speed you are getting for the price you pay is a rip off.

I just went from Comcast because they were horrible to ATT, so the grass isn't always greener on the other side. See if you can resolve the speed problem with ATT first before switching.

Running a download/upload speed test while Netflix is streaming a movie really isn't valid. A speed test really should be run without anything else using your bandwidth. It's kind of like towing a trailer behind a vehicle while testing it's acceleration.

We have only a 1.5M connection (usually see 1.4M downloads) and have no trouble streaming Netflix (although it may pause briefly a couple of times during a movie to rebuffer). We live in a rural area where there really isn't much in the way of an alternative (no cable or dsl available) and currently pay $91/month (recently reduced from $160/month).

Those are terrible speeds for AT&T DSL.

With 0.31 upload, that looks like 1.5/384 service. Run that test again with NOTHING open and running except the Speedtest browser window. If you only have 1.5/384, that's AT&T's cheapest DSL service and normally runs about 30 bucks a month. I have AT&T and am paying $38 for 3.0/512. Wish I could get faster, but that's as fast as they will sell me at my address.

As I said were paying 60-80 dollars for the MOST BASIC speeds ( 1.5/.384 ). Let ALONE Phones and TV.

Verizon supplies a $90 plan that servers up 50/15 along with TV and Landline... Now thats KKILLER. In 2-years were switching to Verizon, because ATT doesn't have 3G here, and I have a 4G phone and 2 other household members have the iPhone 5 ( yuck ).

If you are paying that much, I'd call Verizon NOW and pay AT&T the early termination penalty. That service at that price is a ripoff.
