Printer sharing through router

I am trying to get two of my computers to share a printer through the USB2 port on the router.

I have the physical connection from the router to the printer done. Is the setup done with the router software? In looking at the router software, I do not see an option for sharing a printer. My router is a D-Link DGL-4500. Or is this a setup that I do through Windows 7? I have never been able to share a printer through the ethernet connections, except once when glc set up a home network for my wife and I.

I can't say I've ever heard of a consumer-grade router having a built-in print server.

For that reason alone, you probably won't be able to get this to work.

[edit]: Ok, I take that back. The specs on that router list a tech called "SharePort" that says it allows you to connect USB printers. Is there a section in the router's web interface with that labeled somewhere?

Thanks. I didn't get it done the way I was trying but I was able to get my wife's computer to work through the ethernet cable and my computer to print using the USB cable directly to the printer. I tried networking my printer with my computer but I got a window that said that my printer is not network capable, which is incorrect since it is networked to my wife's computer. (I swear, Microsoft is so retarded sometimes plus it should not have to be this difficult to get machines to talk to each other in this day and age, no wonder people buy Apple computers.) The whole goal here was not to have to keep switching the USB cable to the printer between the two computers, so now the USB cable can stay connected to my computer. Mission accomplished.

I have the D-Link DIR655. I use my Samsung Laser Printer/Scanner through the Router. Use the Share Port Utility. What you do is Capture the Available printer/Scanner on the PC your using. I can Print and Scan through the WiFi. Release it when your done so another PC can use it.

You need to make sure your Printer is compatible.
