Dreadful download speed
Hey guys, im trying to download a large file, and while I have 6mb/s internet speed, and I have tested it on speedtest.net, my download speed is along the lines of 310kb/s....This is just awfull and to download even a single GB will take like an hour.
Any ideas why my download is so slow compared to the internet speed? Or is this normal? |

If speedtest is showing a good speed, then the problem is likely the server you are downloading from.

Normally I would agree. But this speed seems to be pretty consistent with a lot of things. Mainly updating games, the speed always seems to be around that speed.

If all your downloads are coming from one source, then it's likely a speed limitation of the source.
If you're using steam, I've consistently hit well over 1MBps. If you're using another source, you might see something different. |

That's not really that bad - my 3mb/s DSL tops out at around 300 kB/s. 1gb per hour is not unreasonable, I don't get that kind of speed.
