Would WiFi Work OK With 767k DSL?
Currently I use a desktop clunker wired to a Westell 7500 modem/router with a 767k dsl connection. If I were to go to a lap top using wifi would the dsl be of adequate speed for normal web surfing, ect. or would broadband be required? How about streaming video?

You wouldn't notice a difference between your desktop and laptop, since you would still be connecting through your DSL connection.
Using wifi to connect to your primary Internet connection doesn't "make things faster". Your DSL speed is a little on the slow side, but should be able to stream low/medium quality videos without needing to buffer too much.

As ForceFlow said, you wouldn't notice a difference. If you buy a new laptop, it will most likely have 802.11n wifi built-in which can achieve speeds of 54Mb or faster. Providing the modem/router also supports 802.11n, the wifi connection will easily be able to handle the 767Kb DSL connection.
