Getting new ISP
Well if you know my past problems...this is exciting news for, since well... I haven't had internet above 1 - 3 mbps in years. Now I have a chance of getting 30 sometimes, probably 19+ for the most part, and 5 upload!'
From charter btw. Keeping DirecTV, but if my NAT is closed... I'm getting a new modem, so I may ask for support on that! |

Do *NOT* get a modem with router functions from Charter. Get a simple DOCSIS 3.0 modem (Motorola SB6121/6141 recommended) and connect it to a separate router.

I don't know where you live but I have Charter Communications for my ISP here in Los Angeles and they have a deal out right now where you don't have to sign a contract and they will provide you with a free Modem. The modem isn't too shabby either, it's a Motorola SB6121 that does support DOCSIS 3.0. I am currently paying for a 30Mb/down and 4Mb/up service but when I test my speeds it's usually hovering around 50-60Mb/down and 6Mb/up. With taxes and all the fees included I am paying about $56 per month. Hope this helps!

LOL, the picture of it, is the modem hooked up to the exact router I have. My friend gets 50 mbps down and like 5 - 10mbps up. EDIT: Why should I, it costs like 80+ and I doubt the person who pays the bills would ACTUALLY buy that. Last edited by Nucious; 01-25-2013 at 08:03 PM. |

You have been complaining about NAT issues - the way I said is the ONLY way to fully control your NAT. Tell Charter that you have your own router that you want to use, so all you want from them is a plain old modem.
