Please help Wirless Very very slow!
hey there, i had bought a belkin N150 wireless usb adapter for my desktop last night, Noticed it was slow thought nothing for the 5 mins and went to sleep. I have been up since 6 this morning it's now 12 trying to figure out why it's slow.
Its stated 150 MBPS transfer rate, fully aware that's around 50mbps for real. Now I'm at full bars, I've changed the channel multiple times, flushed and changed dns back and forth, restarted modems and the pc. ive tried trouble shooting. messed with the setup for the router, and it's all the same. at restart of the computer for 30 seconds, the internet network connection status shows 70+ MBPS and Lightning fast! then all of a sudden it DROPS to 14!!!! I have multiple laptops, devices that ARENT connected at the moment so it's completely FREE of bandwith.. I dont know what else to do? This is unbearable. Its lightning fast one second then the other i'm waiting like it's 1990 dial up. Please help me out. I don't understand why the MBPS is getting knocked down with FULL bars and Im not far away from the router either. The router is also brand new wireless cisco WRT160N... This adapter is the only problem having equipment for the wireless. Please help me, ill do anything |

try updating the drivers.... if that doesnt help then go into the wireless properties and turn off all the power save features and retry...
EDIT: also when you click the Wireless Icon on the task bar and hover over the connection what does it say it is connected as? B, G or N?

also i tried all of that already. it's still just going Up high mbps. works FAST one second, down to 14 mbps. to chattering connection... Ok, the picture below is me downloading the Belkin driver again. It's like that for 25ish~ seconds. Then 5ish seconds later it pauses for a second and then downloaded instantly from there >.> Also doing this from the router itself. It's unbearable.. Waiting for the attachment then the Post.. please help me. edit again: i disabled and restarted and this is what happens.. it starts at 72 mbps. then at that moment you can see the time i waited for it.. drops. then it drops again past 29 in a few.. and now it's jumping between 29 and 43.5 mbps constant.. Belkin adapters are junk. I would return it and get a PCI/PCI-E internal adapter, preferably a Linksys that matches the router.
