Difference between US and UK firmware (DLink DIR-655)

I have an old DLink router that has become unreliable. Dropped connections, unstable, etc. The latest (US) firmware is onboard.

Looks like the UK firmware is the same version, but it got me wondering what the difference between the US firmware and the UK firmware might be.

Any theories? Guesses?

I very much doubt there are any differences apart from maybe a few geographical settings.
Many moons ago back in the days of dial up, I brought a few PCI modem cards from the states back to the UK and they would install ok but wouldn't allow me to set them up or recognise the UK phone system.

The UK software has a funny accent and drives on the wrong side of the road?

You get a red screen instead of a blue one when it fails.

Those are choice words coming from a person living in a country where 99.9% of the residents of the southern states cannot understand one another never mind anyone from anywhere else.... Oh yeah! it's the rest of the world that drives on the wrong side of the road not us.

You are right, this country does have a bunch of regional accents. Some are so thick that they almost sound like a different language.

Technically we do drive on the right side of the road, you foreigners drive on the left or wrong side.

David. while I was living in Puerto Rico people would often ask me what part of the US I was from and were then very taken aback when i told them I was from the UK. They said that they could understand me speaking English and Spanish far better than anyone they had ever met from "los Estados Unidos"...

What this has got to do with the original post, who knows?

@Preston, I would guess the biggest difference would be the UK firmware would allow channels 1-13 whereas the US would be limited to 1-11. I don't believe the FCC allows the US to go beyond channel 11.

My DI-524 started to get flaky after about 7 years of 24/7 use. I replaced the electrolytic caps and all is good again. No visible bulging or leakage but apparently they were the problem.
