ATT Uverse being a pain in the arse
 

About 4 months ago I noticed the internet signal would come and go every now and then. When I first had the internet I never experienced this problem. Now is getting more annoying now that we have the whole Uverse package internet and TV. I had the ATT tech come out here 2x already the one that goes up the tower and the ones that takes care of the house equipment. All my equipment is new and the tower guy mentioned to me he fix a couple of cables that were wrong. Supposedly him and he also mentioned if the problem continued to call them again. I'm not sure what is the problem but is getting annoying and tiring. When you doing something online and all of suddenly the internet kicks you out :mad:

I am going to give them a morning yell tomorrow and tell them they need to fix this crap or "Im packing up their things and cancelling their service" I don't want to go with comcast because I have had a bad experience with them as well and there aren't many choice to pick an internet company.

EDIT** BTW our phone company is with Vonage don't think that's a problem here.

The Vonage equipment may be contributing - when the Internet goes out, does the phone go out too? Exactly what hardware is connected to what, and how?

I feel your pain. I quit Comcast because they sucked for a number of reasons and got AT&T. I have only had two known outages with AT&T so I wouldn't give up on them just yet.

I have Vonage and their router does not conflict with with the AT&T modem/router. In fact, I used to use it to confirm that my Comcast internet connection was the problem, and not my computer, just by picking up the phone.

UPDATE***

So funny how it took a former Marine (Justin) to fix my situation. I was at the edge of a cliff with my mom screaming at me and tired of having to have ATT Techs come out to our home over 4xs. This was my only chance to get things right God is good! By the way I have family members in the Marines God bless our devil dogs and any other Military branch.


So the panel outside was switch 2xs, Justin mentioned to me when they do that they don't switch the batteries which we both agree is completely stupid. He said that''s why he always switch both panel and battery.

But before this he was going to switch it again thats when I mentioned to him it has been switch 2xs, the backup battery which is a white box that goes inside the house and my modem was never switch. So instead he switch the backup battery. Problem was the panel system outside kept going off completely more than 6xs while he was here. I am glad it was going crazy like it usually does when he was here.


The backup battery stays in my little brother room where the modem used to be. I actually disconnected my surge protector I bought for my system and plug it upstairs to protect the internet system but I don't recall if I connected the backup battery as well. But after I got scared I was risking my PC this way, I took it back and connected it to a cheap surge protector needless to say it was already melted from the outlet connectors all though it was still working but I doubt it was still protecting. I never noticed the melted part until Justin came over to remove it and gave us a new surge protector for my brother TV, backup battery and Uverse TV box and a couple of misc electronic stuff.


The modem and phone system stays plug in below in my room with my surge protector along with my PC system.

I love Uverse the TV chanels is a lot better than Direct TV

I'm assuming when the Internet goes down the TV turns off as well? I've had for years and never a hiccup until recently, then both were at same time and only lasted a minute or so. All remote tests were OK (of course). I was hoping for a new modem (2-Wire). Tech said they are experiencing a lot of power supply cords to modem on my dinosaur so instead of a new modem I got another cord. I was thinking, "yeah, right, a cord". What began as an occasional blip became many times a day but after the new cord, been blip free for 3 weeks.

Yea Uverse basically is run under internet completely so when the panel would go out of power the internet and TV signal would go out as well was annoying as :p so I was getting tired of it but was hoping they could take care of it asap. And they deliver :cool:
