Dd-wrt?

I have a Linksys wrt54gl router that i decided to finally flash dd-wrt on to it...
All went well router works,I flashed the "Recommended" firmware from DD-WRT.com.

I have one small problem..

When i log into the router it is in Chinese...Errrrrr..

Can someone help me fix this? My first try at a router flash and a fail.. LOL

grab the latest firmware from their forums. The firmware database on the main page hasn't been updated in quite some time.

As for the language issue, try clearing your browser cache, then refresh the page.

If that doesn't work, you can try switching the language using reference images: DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Help - DD-WRT is in Chinese now instead of English

OK problem fixed.. all going well except I just installed a Motorola SB6141 modem and it seems this router will not allow the speed i am supposed to get..

Any suggestions for a replacement router that won't break the bank?

I don't see why it wouldn't support the speed of that modem - have you done an actual comparison with the modem by itself? Cable speeds are advertised as "up to" a certain value, which WILL vary and you may NEVER see that speed. Also, Comcast, among others, gives you a momentary "boost" when you start a download then cap you off.

Maybe I am not reading things right that I have looked up..The reason i asked was because since install the link light on the modem blinks amber meaning it is at 10/100 when it should be blue and running at 10/100/1000.
From what I have read the wrt54gl will not support that speed?Am I wrong?

Your Internet service is slower than 100 mbps so it shouldn't matter. Not worth spending the money for a router that has a Gigabit input port.

Remember that when you connect the modem to a different device, you have to power it off for a few minutes to reset the MAC.

Well, Finally got around to hooking the modem up direct to the PC and bingo..The flashing amber link light turned blue but still flashes. Went to speedtest.net and got 8 more MBs down.That tells me the is a bottleneck somewhere. Flashiing link light from I have read at DSL reports say the modem needs a new bootfile? I dunno

I don't care for routers that don't have external antennas and won't take 3rd party firmware.

Well for $49 I grabbed the WD N750 router to give it a try and it arrived today.
Probably won't get around to hooking it up until this weekend but I have a question..

We bought a Lenevo R400 laptop that jdeb recommended on here and I don't know jack poop about them.I have no idea what wireless network card it has in it nor how to find out without tearing it apart to see and laptops are something i have never messed with.

If it will not connect to this new router via wireless is it safe to assume i can just buy a usb wireless n adapter and it would work while leaving what wireless card is in the laptop? Or do I have to take the old one out?

There should be no reason why the Lenovo can't connect to ANY wireless router with the internal card. Call Lenovo, their phone support is decent.
