Can you be a little clearer about what you are attempting to do.
Are you looking to make your PC's internet connection wireless? or change your ISP?

That still isn't detailed enough. Do you want to get rid of your Centurylink service and obtain your Internet from a wireless source? If so, what source do you plan on using? Or, do you simply want to get rid of the cable between your modem and your PC? If so, what's the brand and model of your modem? How many computers do you have?

I would like to hook up a modem/router if it can be done. would something like a TP-Link TD-W8961ND 300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router do the job?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but you aren't answering the questions in detail and I don't understand what you want to do. What EXACTLY do you want to do? Eliminate Centurylink altogether? If so, what are you going to use for an Internet service? If not, and all you want to do is eliminate the cable between the Centurylink modem and your computer, what is the BRAND and MODEL of your existing Centurylink modem/router? Do you have more than one computer? Please answer in more than one short sentence. Thank you.
