I recently installed Windows 95 Preview Version on my laptop computer (it's the only 9x version I have on floppy). Now I can't get the OS to recognize the subject PC Card in either slot. There is also a modem in the PCMCIA adapter, and it works in both slots. The Device Manager gives me the "device not present..." error in slot 1, but it tells me "device error, install different driver" if I put the card in slot 2. I installed the latest available drivers from 3Com web site, but that doesn't work.
Are there some Windows 98 updates to any network files I could place in the laptop (I can transfer from my desktop via floppy - or even DCC, if need be). Thanks for any help. Chris |

I think you need to get some other OS on there...that version had a ton of bugs. If you have a parallel "laplink" cable and some kind of link software (Laplink for Dos, Norton Commander, Dos 6 Interlink) you can format the drive and dump the cab files onto it from a CD on another machine, and install Windows from those.
