Hi,

I just installed network cards on my two PCs. I am using a direct cable connection between the two PCs. However, it can't detect each other no matter how i play with the settings. Is a hub absolutely necessary or do i go back to playing with my settings?

Also are there any places on the web with literature on setting up a home network other than the one in pcmech? Thanks

Are you using a crossover cable? Without a hub you will need to. I believe the term direct cable connection is used when you are connecting using the serial ports. Is that what you are doing?
