Boom XP&98 Network Help Needed

Hi i'm really stuck, i've tryed everything but the darn thing just will not work. I need to start from the begining.

my main machine is XP Pro and I want to connect it via Network to a 98 SE machine. I need someone to show me the settings I need in XP and 98 to get them to recognise each other and to transfer data back and forth. I know it may take a few minutes of your time but I can't make it work by myself (doh) I've tryed everything I know (which aint much when it comes to networking)

I have installed a 10/100mbps Network card in each of the 2 machines. I have connected each with cat5 cable to a 5 port 10/100mbps hub

Thanks Loaaads in advance

You need to have the workgroup name the same and since XP will already have TCP/IP installed, you just need to make sure it's installed in 98. Then enable file and printer sharing and they should be able to see each other and access each other.

Cool

I have XP Pro and WIN98 FE networked behind a router. I set things up manually as Hal pointed out after trying to get the 98 PC networked using the disk that XP created. It didn't work so I set it up manually like Hal said.
