Some of the benchmarks that I have seen online almost suggest you might be better off with an Athlon 900 as it fairs better against the Intel 1000, the AMD 1000 performance is actually somewhat disappointing in comparison (go figure), but then again, it was only one article.

1.1 Ghz is selling on pricewatch for $719.00

Yes it is expensive, but you would be the big kid on the block.

Intell's 1 Ghz is selling for $962. 133mhz FSB

AMD 1 ghz is selling for $475 DDR 200mhz

However I would like to see them run side by side.....both have 256 k cache.

I bought a k7 650 that ended up having an 800 core which I found out after I bought a K7 700 w/900 core. It runs stable and cool at 1GHz, and I've seen others with them at 1.1 GHz. I really haven't pushed it since my Voodoo 5 5500 is the bottleneck at 2XFSAA/ anyway since 850MHz. The 700's w/900 core can now be found for close to $200. I wonder what Intel is charging...
