microwave cabel

just wondering,

on the 1st of sept, I am going up to nothern mich to install a home network for my sister, there cable tv is recived with a microwave dish pointer at a tower in town,( this is farm country)
and they also have internet now, my question is sence they will install the reciver and cable modem, I want to set up a wireless lan system for 5 computers, would there be any interferance between the signal for the dish and the wireless router, or is that not not a concern.

any thoughts on this would be helpfull

microwaves and radio waves are the same thing, and a satalite is not what is used.

bailey, Have you asked this question at dslreports.com forums? Someone there may be able to give you a definite answer. This is just a suggestion.

Microwave is a very narrow directionial beam, with very little interferance outside of the beam itsself. I really doubt that this will interfere with the wireless router signal. I take it that they can use a cordless phone at their house, which is near the bandwidth of the wireless routers in use.

The frequencies are going to be different, so it's not a concern.

I have noticed that some 2.4ghz wireless systems are bothered by cordless telelphones in the same frequency range. I have no idea what frequency their microwave system uses but I would think it would lower. If so they shouldn't conflict at all.

ok thanks, I feel a lot better about it now.

what I plan on doing is pluging the linksys cabel wireless router to the cabel modem, and a wireless newwork card into all the computers, the one next to the router will have a standard nic for the inicial set up, then the other computers can be set up with the wireless cards,

the router also has the 4 port switch built in but will not be useing them. it also is a wireless connection point.
