no connection, then connection
Sometimes my internet connection just shuts off and my browser at the bottom says "Finding site www.google.com" or whatever the site may be. That will happen maybe for a minute or so then everything will work fine again. It's very annoying for games because I just lag out wholly. COuld this be with my router/LAN or is it with my ISP? I have comcast cable if that means anything. Does it have anything to do with teh cable line being split?

I would think that this is due to the latency in your connection. Cable connections are notorious for spikes. Are you in a highly populated area? Remember, you share you connection with everyone around you who also has cable.

Yes I am in a populated place, mostly everyone I know has cable. However, very few have hte problem I do. None of my friends who have this cable has the problem I do and that is 10+ people that have cable.

I have this exact same problem right now, I just made a post a few days ago called "See if anyone can figure this one out" only mine goes off at 4:30pm and 10:30pm everyday and its a bitch when im playing on Battle.net cause I always have to watch the clock. Quake 3 based games arnt so bad I lag for 1 or 2 minutes really bad then it comes back. I know how you feel and I cant figure out whats going on either?

I think it has to do with my cable being split upon entering my house. That's what I think... I'm going to see if someone can come out here to see what they can do.

If the cable line is split, you need a high quality 1 GHz+ splitter or you will have problems.

How can I tell what kind of splitter it is? Also, how much does a 1 Ghz one cost?

It may be written on it - a good one costs about $8, go to Radio Shack.
