Router Help
I have an ADR-E200P router. In order to configure it, the manual says to just type in the IP 192.168.1.1 into a browser, but nothing happens.
I assume the problem is that it was assigned a static IP a few years ago. (I don't know it) I've been trying to figure out a way to reset it, but there in no button, hole, etc. The manual is next to useless, since it only tells you how to do it after you have connected with the router. Has anyone ever reset one of these? Thanks. |

First of all, do you have your computer set to DHCP? Your computer must get the private IP from the router before it can access it.

I've set my computer to obtain an IP autmatically, and use WIN to resolve DHCP.
Still can't find the router at 192.168.1.1 |

I think Hal was also refering to your browser setting, IE needs to know this info also.

The gateway is showing as 192.168.1.1, so that is supposed to work. There's nothing in the manual about doing a reset?

The only reference is a software reset from the browser window. I think at some point in the past, I changed the IP for the router to work with a DSL line. I've since moved (over a year ago) and am getting broadband on Wednesday. I'm trying to get everything set so I can use the fire wall again.

On the winipcfg screen, hit "more info" and post that pic.

Thanks. I'll post tonight. (At work now)
Just tracked down the phone number of Amptron. They went out of business in January. (sigh) Last edited by ramayes; 08-13-2002 at 02:20 PM. |

OK, I've made some progress. By going into winipcfg and selecting release all, I was able to reset the IP for the router to 192.168.1.1. First problem solved.
New problem. I don't remember the username and password. I've tried all the usual combos I use, but no luck. Holy !@#$ I was typing in random passwords that I've used and then tried it with the default user name of root and an old password: it worked. Thanks for everyone that read and gave this some thought. I guess sometime it pays to be persistant (I've typed in about 100 password/username combos) Thanks again. Looks good - the router is acting as gateway and DHCP server, it's assigning an IP address and transferring DNS.
