wireless networking problems

just installed a wireless router to connect two different computers on different levels. both running xp home. since the day it was installed the connection has been interrupted about every 10 minutes. don't understand what's going on. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly happens when it is interrupted? Do you lose the connection completely or does it just seem to slow down? Do you have a lot of electrical equipment around your wireless equipment?

completely lose the connection. for electrical equipment we have a printer, speakers w/subwoofer, lamp, and we unplugged the cordless phone.
