hosting game behind router

Hey, I'm a pretty big gamer and I would like to host some games on the internet (mostly sports). However, I have a router and no one can ever get in the games I create. Is there a way I can fix this without doing anything physically, that is can I fix this by just clicking some buttons and typing things?
thanks

The easiest way is put the game server in the router's DMZ. If your router doesn't have this feature or you don't want to risk that much security you need to forward the ports the game needs to the server.

It would help a lot if you posted the make and model of the router, and if you read its manual.

It's easy. Find out which ports the game uses, then go to the setup page (usually 192.168.1.1) then go to advanced, then port forwarding. Enter the ports there, and put in the LOCAL (192.168.1.x) IP for the machine doing the hosting. One thing to watch out for though, is if your machine is set to use DHCP for the local IP, and thus your ip changes. I like to set up my network with static IP's so I always know the ip of each of the machines on the network. Heres a picture of what that page would look like.

Look around the site for the game, in the support or help or FAQ's, it shouldn't be hard to find.
