I am trying to create an Access Database Project (.adp) using an existing SQL database. When I go through MS-Access Data Link properties I enter the domain (eg 217.208.135.14) then the administrator user name and appropriate password. I then type the name of the database in the "Select Database on Server" box. (nothing ever appears in the drop-down)
I always get the following error message: "Test connection failed because of an error in initializing the provider. [DBNMPNTW]Specified SQL Server not found" I am using Win2k SP2 and Access 2000 SR1a. The SQL database is up and running with other applications, I just can't connect to create an .adp. Please help if anyone knows a solution!! Many thanks, Simon. |

What OS is the SQL Server running on?
Have you checked SQL Server's error log? Can you create a connection another way (i.e. setting up a DSN?)? |
