Ok, build is done , now how do I do this?

Ok, got the thing finally done, lol. I did take pictures along the way I will have to get them scanned to show you all the mess while building this thing. Here is my question. Now that i have this puter running I want to network to old puter just to play games and share files. We won't be sharing internet, printers, scanners, etc. Just gaming and file sharing. What is the simplest, and easiest way to accomplish this. I have 2 10/100 network cards on hand if that helps in any way.

Thanks in advance

Hi mjdurrbeck,

Get a cross-over cable and connect the 2 computers by the NIC's. I know you can share or transfer files this way, but I'm not sure about gaming.

If you're gonna be gaming, you might be better off with a hub and straight cat 5 so that you can have more than two computers.

Gaming would work with just a crossover connection, but it would only work for two player lan games.

I feel just like mjdurrbeck.

I heard networking my computers is cool.

I heard switches are cool.

I heard using windows 2000 advanced server to run your network is cool.

So I got some computers with a switch and one comp running win2k advanced. But that's basically where I lose it, lol. I'm really having problems getting this network to work
