Netgear rp114 router

I use AIM a LOT and some times I cant connect to people to direct send files and some times I cant..

Some people say I need to forward ports and enable DMZ, ip spoofing. blah blah blah.

What is DMZ? In my routers config it just says 0.0.0.0.0 Do I need or should I set it to any thing?

And what is "Spoof this PC's MAC address" What would it do is I enabled it?

Read the manual. It explains in detail what DMZ is, and what spoofing is, and how to get programs to work through the router.
