I have a laptop that I bought from an out of business company. When I boot up a password is prompted. It is a Novell scren asking for the password which I don't have. How do I reset it or bypass it?

For Windows 9x that screen should only show up if it is connected to a network.
For 2K/XP there is often an option for "Workstation only" on the logon screen. If it isn't there then supply a vaild Windows username and password and attempt to logon. This should time out and ask if you wish to login to Windows. Failing that then boot into Safe Mode (without networking) and repeat the above. Either way you will need a valid Windows username and password |
