I posted a while back re: a student at a University trying to connect to the interent and I have some new info.
The campus has a 10mb Ethernet connection to the bedroom with a 100MB Ethernet Downlink into an ATM backbone which is interconnected to the campus network via an ATM connection. They require 1. An Ethernet 10 BaseT card with an RJ-45 connector. 2. A Patch Cable 10 BaseT RJ45 or twisted pair patch cable. Category 5 cable at least 10Ft long. I have a network card (not a modem card) but don't have it here with me to give the specs. It fits a regular telephone cable. I do not believe it will fit an RJ45. I understand that the RJ-45 cables are bigger. And I don't have an RJ45 cable yet to try. I got some help before from JLC on how to get this working but now I need more help to find out if this card will work. And based on the new info, maybe I can now get the rest of the info I need. Thanks guys! |

Go over to Best Buy and buy a card and cable. Together they shouldn't cost more than $30.
