network and printers

I'm looking at changing the way my network is set up and came across a problem. I want to get my printer hooked into the system without being hooked to a single computer. I have seen the Jet Direct boxes and thought about those, but then I came across a D-Link router that has a built in print server and bought it. I thought I figured this all out perfectly, but then I came across a new dilemna. I am using my printer through the USB port (I have heard this is faster then parallel) and would like to continue to do so for the speed purposes. But, I have not found a single print server that will allow me to connect through a USB cord. Is there a way to do this...and is there any other information I should know about this. I guess I'm looking for information like:

How different is the speed between the two connections?
Is there a way to connect USB to the network on its own?
Does the D-link router work as good as the Jet Direct card?

...and any other pertinent information like this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You won't see a speed difference between USB and parallel for a printer. The only difference you will see is parallel is a lot more stable and dependable.

The Jet Direct card would be better if you have numerous people trying to print at the same time and you have a really powerful printer.

But if you are talking about a network with a half a dozen computers that aren't printing all the time you would never get the benefit to be worth the cost difference.
