Hey, I'm just a bit of a networking newbie and I got a question out of curiousity. I want to try to run some web services (a Web server, FTP Service, and maybe later some dedicated game servers) on a few computers. Right now I have them set up as clients on an ICS network, my question is that there simply can't (that I know of) be any connections on theses computers from the net as long as they are clients on the ICS using a LAN. What I want to know is if I gave them some arbitrary IP number and told them to use the ICS Server computer as a gateway, would they then be able to have outside connections? Is there anything else involved to that, such as registering with a registrar? Does anyone understand what I am going for, or have any thoughts?
Thanks, -C Just remember I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about too. |

Running servers through ICS is difficult, a router would better serve you.

I see, you happen to have a link to any reading on the subject? Difficult is alright, impossible isn't.
