networking for dummies (ME)
Please help me get this off my "why can't i figure this out" list. The basics:
D-link wireless network stuff Win98 downstairs (mine) Win Me upstairs (the wifes) The Internet sharing has worked flawlessly for months, and now I'm trying to access her files, mostly for virus scans, and I want to use her laser printer without copying a file to floppy or cd and running up stairs all the time. I have enabled networking on both, have unique usernames for the same workgroup. I can see both computers from either one, but I can't see the drives. I have enabled file sharing on mine, and file and printer on the wifes. I'm sure it's something amazingly simple I'm missing, but i'm clueless!!!!! Any suggestions will be tried and eternal gratitude will be limitless. |

Do you have a software firewall running (like zonealarm)? That turned out to be the problem with mine...you have to close it.

Open Explorer, right click on the drivename, or whatever folder you want to share, select Sharing and Security, enable it.
You can even give each a unique share name, so you don't get confused about which folder is on which computer. |
