Usb 2.0 External Hard Drive

Just wondering if anyone one the forums has been able to configure a Usb External Hard Drive to work properly on a peer to peer network ?? Seems like several people I know when trying to move large files get out of memory error. Is there a way to resolve this or is it not able to be done. Most people I know are trying to do this on Windows Xp both Home and Pro. Thanks for any help in this issue, Gary

I transferred 30+Gig from a network share to an external USB disk yesterday and whilst it took a while there were no errors. The majority of the files were around a gig as they were Ghost images.

Is this what you meant or did you mean copying from a USB disk that is shared to another PC.

Let me know and I will give it a try tomorrow at work.

Relevant PC specs are Windows 2000, 1.7GHz Intel, onboard 10/100 Intel LAN connection, 256 MB RAM, 40GB fixed disk, 40GB USB 2.0 disk, manufactured by Lacie.

I tried this anyway. Shared my USB disk and copied over 3GB data to a workstation the other side of the building on a different subnet. No errors.
