Mediacom

Does anybody hers know exactly how to setup a linksys router on mediacom. I have a Motorola Surf Board 4200 cable modem and want to hook it to the router. I need to have some sort of game plan when I get it installed. Both of my computers have network cards in them so that is the way I will be doing it . If anybody here has Mediacom and has a router setup please respond , thanks in advance Gary

You should be able to simply plug it in and go - you may have to log into the router and clone the MAC address of your nic into it, that's all, then power cycle the modem, then power cycle the router, then reboot the computers. The computers will get IP addresses using the DHCP server that's in the router. 5 minute job.

Use the same cable that you use from the modem to the NIC right now, plug it into the WAN port of the router. I'm pretty sure that's just a straight cable. Power cycle simply means unplug the power cord for a couple of minutes then plug it back in.
