d-link install
Hello...I sort of installed my D-link DI-604 router today. The "wizard" that you are supposed to use does not work. I have 2 computers sharing my cable modem via a D-link router. I am not sure if everything is working correctly or not since the install "wizard" would not run. All I know is that I am able to access the internet with both my computers through the router. I tried to update the "firmware" and that didn't run either! Iam using windows Xp on my new P-4 built system. I also used the network wizard in windows and that did something, however, I don't know what?
Can someone advise me on this? I don't even no if this setup is working correcly or not? Should both computers have/or not the same address? Please advise. thanks, God Bless, Robert Last edited by Robertj; 03-06-2003 at 04:28 PM. |

Both computers should NOT have the same address.
You should be able to open Explorer, and enter 192.168.x.x in the browser. That will take you to the setup page of the router. I don't know exactly what the numbers are for the dlink, but it's clearly spelled out in the manual. |

Thanks for reply,...reboot. You are right they have 2 different addresses, however, I didn't know if they should or not.
Yes the url is http://192.168.0.1. The wizard WILL NOT run. Am I am not sure what is what. I do have internet access from both computers. Since the wizard doesn't work I don't know if everthing is set up right. Thanks, please advise, Robert |

If your two Computers could access the Interner via your Router it means it is working properly.
If you want to verify it again. Try resetting it by pressing the resett button near those LAN port plugs of your router and then open your browser type in the address bar the following : http:// 192.168.0.1 Then the log on pop screen will appear. Go figure out from there, the instruction is user friendly. HTH. |
