Invoking a dialup connection from the web
Hey all,
Anyone know of software that I could run remotely from the web and invoke my home pc to go ahead and dial up so that I could take control of the home pc remotely?I dont think you can do that with PC Anywhere can you?Its either dial up to dial up or ip to ip I think.Any thoughts much appreciated. |

If the remote computer isn't connected to the web, how are you going to command it to dial up to the web, through the web?

I was thinking a program where you could punch in your home phone number to have said program pick up on your home pc and complete the dial up process to your isp and essentially create a remote hookup.

Actually Ive partially figured something else out anyway.Ive set yahoo messenger to execute at a set time with task scheduler which prompts my dial up to automagically connect at which point I'll have to find a way to pull my ip.I know you used to be able to get the ip from icq but Ive not seen this in messenger.Working on it..

OK, that's a creative way to have the computer remote connect at a given time, now you just need to find your IP remotely, and then it might work.
