Can't get router to work with DSL

Hi all
I just purchased my Lynksys Router Model#BEFW11S4.

Here is my problem when I connected my DSL modem to the Router and then the router to the PC, the instructions say go to Network Connections and choose your Local are Connection which I did. My problem is my I have (2) Local Area Connections one goes with my Nvidia Ethernet Adapter and the othe goes with the 3 Com Ethernet Adater. I have my DSL connection to the Nvidia adapter. When I click enable my Local Connection 2 won't enable it keeps saying Network connection failed. My first area connection is fine but what do I do to get this one to enable. I know I can switch to the other Ethernet adapter, but I need to know what is wron with this one.

I hope I explained it good enough. The mother board is a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe. Running WinXP home.

I can connect to the internet no problem with my modem connected to the Nvidia Enternet adapter, but can't get the other part working.

Thanks DD

I called Linksys and they helped me get the router up and running. This thread can be closed.

I also figured out the problem with the Lan connection and now it is enabled.

Thanks anyway DD

What happened was when I thought I was pluged into the Nvidia Ethernet Card, I was actually connected into the 3Com Ethernet Card.

Lynksys Tec support helped configure my router and this is what we did if your interested.

1) Connected my router to my PC. In Back of the router there is 4 ports, connected my DSL to port 1. Start PC,DSL/CABLE Modem,Router.

2) Went to Network connections>Right click on my local connection>choose properties>TCP/IP click properties> check Optain an IP Address Automatically. Click Ok than Ok again reboot.

3) Opened up my IE browser and in the address field typed in 192.168.1.1 then hit enter. A Log on window appears. In the user name space leave it blank. Under password enter admin, hit enter. A Lynksys window appears.

Choose the the Setup tab.

4) Under Host Name: leave bland
5) Domain Name: leave blank

6) Lan IP Address:192.168.1.1
7) Sub Mask:255.255.255.0

8) Under Wireless if you are going wireless I have it enabled
9)Wan Connection Type I have PPPoE

10) User Name: type in your complete e-mail address
11) Password: type in your password
12) Hit Apply

13) Under the status tab hit connect and you be connected.
When your connected you have to minimize your browser and open up a new one to surf the web. When your done open up the other browser you minimized and then disconnect.

That is all I did and it works fine.

Now - you can take this a step further - on the setup tab in the PPPoE section, you can set automatically connect and "keep alive" and you won't have to manually connect and disconnect - you will stay connected 24/7.
